Awarded the Liebster Award!

Shut the front door! I was nominated for the Liebster Award! My first blog award! Simply amazing to know that I have readers and fellow bloggers reading Lovely Brunette!

Thank you Mevina.K for the nomination! I am so happy to see that I have inspired you to join the blogosphere! Lovelies, if you want some fashionista tips, head to the blog fitfreshfabulousme.blogspot.com, a sweet blog from a newbie fashion designer!

Now I am sure you are wondering what the Liebster Award is about! The word ‘Liebster’, from German origins means pleasant, kind, sweetest.. It is a blog award, created by bloggers for bloggers! The aim of this is to get to know new bloggers by nominating them and asking 11 personal questions, then they nominate 5-11 new bloggers and so on. This award aims at motivating new bloggers and welcome them in the blog community, awesome!

1. Why did you start your blog and what is your blog about?

I started my blog last year (more precisely in July 2015) as I wanted to post about the local treasures that my beautiful island had to offer. I had in mind to create a little blog, showcasing pictures and post authentic island living, with a design touch. It then evolved into a motivation to discover local artists, sharing their passion, everything around the ‘made in moris’ concept. My tropical blog is about revealing Mauritius through a feminine eye, discovering local talents to create a community that empowers women and celebrate their uniqueness and creativity.
2. What inspires you to blog?
My inspiration, definitely the farniente, barefoot lifestyle! I use my blog as a creative escape, let my mind wander through concepts, blog visuals and the idea of meeting such a unique community of artists. I see my blog as a canvas, where I share amazing spots and personal experiences.
3. Which top 3 blogs do you check daily?
Design*Sponge | A Pair & Spare | Travelettes
4. What is the best advice you can give your fellow bloggers about how to get new subscribers?

Get out there! Be socially present and interact with any blogger that fits in your niche and blog style. Share your blog posts on the social media scene and encourage your readers to comment & interact.
5. What is something people will be surprised to know about you?
Hmmmm.. Lovely Brunette is actually my 2nd blog! I gave a shot on my first blog called She is an Islander. It didn’t work as I was underestimating myself, a lot! Thinking way too much before posting, blocked on post ideas and the blog concept. I decided that blogging wasn’t for me, until 2015, a year of self motivation! And here I am, giving it my all and feeling deep inside, it is the right thing.
6. If you were to write the story of your life, what would it be?
Blooming Beautifully.
7. What are your top favorite quotes and why?
‘The things you are passionate about are not random. They are your calling’. I live by this quote, it helped me to create Lovely Brunette and gives me strength to pursue this passionate new journey.
‘Be fearlessly authentic’. We should all honour our true self and do what we love.
8. At what do you wish you were better?
I wish I was better in budget planning! Stop the retail therapy and start being more attentive to my actual needs and not to be overwhelmed with sales and limited editions!
9. If you had the chance to be born as an animal, what would it be?
A dolphin! Discovering gracefully the deep waters…
10. Are you a good leader? Why?
I think I am! I listen to opinions, take them into consideration. Always striving for a balance between project management and deadlines. Open to new ideas work as a team. I won’t define myself as authoritative but I do trust team members and help them develop their full potential.
11. What are your thoughts about feminism? Are you a feminist?
Well, I actually come from a family that is femininely quite strong! (Yes we women nail it!) I was brought up in an independent and confident childhood (Thank you grandma!). I do believe in gender equality and that we women are as strong as men, but most importantly, we should all have choices in life. Yes I am a feminist, I support the movement that was once a struggle for women to vote, I support the women who fought for the abolition of slavery, the right to birth control and the abominations that they went through 100 years ago. We are today living through this legacy and should be proud of it.
I happily nominate these lovely bloggers for the Liebster Award #bringiton
