Spa Day & Self Care

Grab a cup of tea or a chilled drink to savour this blog post! I hope in the end, you will re-adapt your routine to a healthier and mindful lifestyle.

Last month I was breathing in coconut scent, enjoying the sunshine in a cozy bathrobe within the beautiful palm fringed Spa 5 sens. It was a bright Saturday so my happiness meter was already high…but we were also heading for a relaxing spa day..and you guessed it right, my happiness meter soared to new heights!

As I made my way towards the spa reception, each step of the way I left my stress, headaches and my faithful companion: the mental to-do list behind. The only problem solving that required my attention was ‘What massage should I treat myself to today?’.
Our journey started with refreshing scented towels and homemade welcoming drinks. It was simple..but in this particular moment, it felt amazing. That was when it hit me. Creating a healthier routine can work wonders in your daily (hectic) schedule.

With the hammam sessions, jacuzzi thrills, tropical coconut body scrub and a heavenly massage…my body felt rejuvenated and my mind at rest. It wasn’t only the massage that made this spa day so revitalizing.

It was the way my experience was crafted around wellness and mindfulness. I was present in the moment and simply grounded in all my actions. From sipping the mint tea after the massage, walking around the spa, listening to the water fountain. I was calm.

I infused those inspirational moments that made me feel in balance to my morning routine. Self care is essential because we can easily get entangled in deadlines, ambitions and busy schedules. If you wish to re-adapt your routine to a more mindful lifestyle, then jump right in!

Arise. The first hour of your morning wake up is significant because it will determine the flow of your day. Take this time to appreciate a mini facial instead of rushing through the bathroom. Simple pressure points to enhance muscle tone and increase circulation. Takes only 2 minutes.

Nourish. A healthy breakfast to nourish your body with the right nutrients. My go-to breakfast since 3 weeks now is chocolate muesli, dried cherries, almonds and coconut milk. Perfect pairing with this breakfast? No phone! Let’s face it, the whole day we will be scrolling on our screen so might as well ditch the phone and grab a good read instead.

Meditate. When the day comes to an end, a great way to turn the page is to meditate. What were you grateful for today? What are you aspiring for tomorrow? Taking deep breaths and being aware of your breaths works magic.

I hope you enjoyed this read! Challenge yourself to try this routine for the next 5 days and let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
