Life Update: Where I’ve been

Why haven't you heard from me and what I've been up to the past 7 months!

Hello Lovelies!

It’s been a HOT minute, actually a steamy 7 months since I posted on my socials or wrote any blog articles! Before we get into the deets of where the heck I was, I just need to say this and get it out of my system:
This, dearest readers, is how my heart feels right this moment, being back to blogging! Obviously I wouldn’t compare myself to the Lion, but THIS song hits all the enthusiastic and inspirational notes! Do you have a pick-me-up song that you always listen to when you need this extra oomph? Let me know yours! I’d love to hear what makes you vibe your heart out 🙂

Today I’ll be sharing a quick life update and also how this blog will be going forward. I promise, it will be short and sweet.

I took his last name!

Yup, you read that right! We had our civil wedding in our new home end of October, last year! Brilliant way to end my Birthday month, right?

It was a way to bring our loved ones under one roof, celebrating a much awaited event that was rescheduled countless times due to the pandemic and other events that shook our hearts a little.

I was SO excited for this! We had the chance to host our loved ones, those special peeps that stuck with us through thick and thin, to celebrate this memorable date in our new home. I also had that window of opportunity to let my creative boho heart sing through the floral decor, the wedding cake and the dress!

I was surrounded by gorgeous and talented women in this journey. A BIG thanks to Jenna for helping me transform my Pinterest decor into reality! She also comforted my over-stressed heart (obviously I was late and since this was all a surprise to my future hubby and the family, my shoulders weren’t big enough to handle this!). Decisions were made, furniture were moved, decor was mounted, fresh flowers were hung and I was ecstatic!

Because in all this beautiful chaos, I knew I was supported. So THANK YOU my crazy Jenna!

Hubby being a lover of plants, the obvious choice for the cake was to have succulents! Anoushka made it a perfect match as she proposed to have my favorite flavor which was chocolate brownie fudge with salted caramel and strawberries! Needless to say, it was as stunningly ravishing then it was heavenly yummy! Making it even more memorable, we propagated our succulents and have them around our home with us ever since.

When I think boho, my mind immediately unravels on the crafty creations of Ofrah! I wanted unique gemstone pieces of jewelry to be designed and we both had great time exchanging thoughts and inspirations! I came out with dazzling earrings and knock-out necklaces thoughtfully crafted to blend with my dress. Funny enough, she also knew my favorite stones and let her wild creativity spark all the way through. I’ll be forever grateful!

He put a Malai on it!

YAASSSS! The BIG day finally came and we got married mid November of last year 🙂

Honestly, the past two years leading to this day was like a riding a bicycle with a flat tire in a storm. So we were ready to embrace heads on any other storm coming our way. Oh boy, we weren’t disappointed!

Couple of days before the wedding, the local authorities in Mauritius announced new sanitary restrictions. Our guest-list was drastically reduced and our reception was cancelled. We told ourselves, we’ve reached the final line. As daunting as it was to jump that last hurdle, we had to take that final leap. So, we did!
It was a small, lovely and intimate ceremony. Our hearts were overfilled with joy. What helped us through this day was not only the unshakable support of our friends and family through video calls and text messages, but the compassion and steadfast tenacity of loved ones present on this day to make it as smooth and memorable as possible.

One thing I can say coming out of this whole experience? Family ties and unwavering friendship makes anything that life throws at you, conquerable.

Home Sweet Home

We moved in right after the wedding. It wasn’t easy, we’ve been through such an emotional roller coaster that both our parents and us, newly weds, had to adapt to our new routine.

However, finally stepping in our home after working on the floor-plans and surviving the MANY challenges that comes during construction…was worth the sleepless nights and headaches!
We are blessed to have a home surrounded in untamed nature. Surely, my morning coffee will always taste better at my parent’s home, but making memories from a dream that we built together is something that I am very much looking forward too.

The next interior project coming up is my studio! I can’t wait to get my hands on it and have it transformed into an artsy room filled with locally made pieces!

A four-legged family member

2 weeks in, we adopted a puppy! Crazy move? Hell yeah!

We were still drowning in our boxes and barely making headway with ongoing furnishing and constructions…but we owed it to her to save her.

She was dumped in our neighborhood. We found her roaming around her box on the road. We picked her up and bought her back home for the night.

Back from the vet, our heart sunk when we heard she had signs of abuse. So we decided to give her the home she deserves. Heavily medicated, she made it through the night and now she is 6 months old 🙂 Cleo loves morning walks, jumps like I jump when I see spiders and can get pretty jealous when we hug and she isn’t at arms reach!

This sums up pretty well what I've been up to for the past couple of months!

It was all about celebrating, re-adjusting, re-connecting and making space for new life’s treasures. Surely, it also helped me in clearing my mind and thinking about how I would bring the blog life into this new chapter. This dearest readers, deserves a part two!

It will be about closure, thankfulness and going back to where and most importantly to why it all started.

Promise, I won’t keep you on your sandy toes for long 😉
