Helios Eyewear Mauritius Launches its First 7/7 Store in Curepipe!
Revolutionizing the optical industry in the Indian Ocean, it is no wonder why Helios Eyewear picked the cultural heritage building, Les Arcades Currimjee to launch its first store open every day of the week! From recycled display furniture to dedicated corners celebrating our local artisans, join me in this pretty little tour to discover the new Helios Eyewear Store, set in the heart of Curepipe.
Shop in a stunning piece of architectural heritage
Did you know that Les Arcades Currimjee was built in 1912? Today, this century basalt-stone building is an exquisite shopping destination for fashionistas, epicureans, book lovers and home décor enthusiasts!
Located at the left-side of the main entrance, you will easily find your way to the new Helios Eyewear Store. What first caught my eye was the window display facing the busy street of Curepipe! Elegantly designed with subtle touches of greenery and bright tropical colors, it simply drew me in immediately!
This little gem is the latest addition to the Helios Eyewear shops on the island, making it more accessible and effortless to grab your Made In Moris eyewear!
Intentional and Mindful Concept Design
As I stepped into the shop, I was stunned by the décor and the layout itself. Although it is a small store, you can instantly see that the team thoughtfully planned the space to bring out dedicated areas but also distinctive island-inspired features. This helped a lot in creating an intimate and welcoming atmosphere.
No kidding, in this shop you’ll find 5 unique spaces that will surely fulfill your optical needs😍
🕶️ Polarized section: With 100% UV protected lenses that are polarized, hence blocking the glare and giving a clearer/ comfortable vision
🕶️ Kids section: Variety of sunglass designs with 100% UV protected lenses for your little ones
🕶️ Optics section: Non-prescription optical frames and some with blue light blocking lenses for adults and children
🕶️ Eco-Friendly section: 100% UV protected and polarized sunglasses made from PET plastic bottles, recycled eyewear and bio-based materials!
🕶️ Mineral section: Sunglasses with mineral lenses created from natural elements (glass), that are 100% UV protected and polarized
Rooted in Sustainability
Helios Eyewear walks the talk when it comes to their eco-friendly practices. This can be seen in the small details of the décor and it truly made my islander heart sing!
The furniture is locally crafted from recycled materials and reused wood pallets. The greenery is beautifully planted in handwoven baskets, a well-known leaf called Vacoas, and in pots made from recycled plastic. However, the detail that caught my eye were the small sunglasses keychains next to the counter. I asked the lovely sales representatives, Huzaila and Estelle, what it was made from because it was no ordinary keychain. They replied with a smile. The team collaborated with Freedom Plastic par Mission Verte, to craft these keychains made from upcycled bottle caps.
Are you smiling now? Because hearing this, I definitely was!
Sunkissed Shopping Tip
When making your way through the shop (actually, any Helios Eyewear store!), do not hesitate to reach out to the sales representatives!
You could easily get overwhelmed as the Made In Moris brand has so many products to offer. Share your needs, design preferences and what you are looking for when purchasing your new eyewear. The team will gladly narrow your options down while sharing tips and you will be able to pick your pair of sunnies or opticals with no second thoughts.
I had a lovely time visiting the new store in Curepipe. One of my favorite spots in the shop was the Eco-Box concept. If you find yourself with broken or old eyewear, do not throw it away. Drop them in the Eco-Boxes available in any Helios Eyewear shops (they can be of any brand) and you can enjoy a 15% discount on a new pair!
Your old pair won’t go to waste, they will be recycled into new eyewear and hence, contribute to our island’s circular economy.
Since it is the first Helios Eyewear store in Mauritius that is open every day of the week, you might want to keep these details handy before heading to Les Arcades Currimjee!
