Strategically located, I was delighted to discover their HQ and dive right into their day-to-day operations!

Funnily enough, Agathe just came back from her travels and started putting together pieces for new bracelet ideas right on the table! These pieces celebrate joy and just adds a much-needed ray of sunshine to your wrist, don’t you agree
I got to meet Josephine, one of the local talented artisans who was busy crafting pieces for one of the shops. I honestly LOVED the fact that Agathe gives creative freedom to her team. As she wonderfully stated herself, it is all about being accessible to her clientele. Therefore, she trains her team and gives them the liberty to adapt the design to different color pairings and beading patterns. But wait, the creative process gets even better! Before launching a new collection, the first 30 products are given to her team for a ‘crash test’.
It goes through every aspect of island living which is: swimming in the pool, in the ocean, bathing under the Mauritian sun and much more! If the product pulls through, you’ll see them in display in her shops across Mauritius and South Africa! So…hands up who wants to join By Agathe Besse team? (ahem…I’m typing this with one hand up!)

As mentioned earlier, By Agathe Besse can be found across the island. Although we’re living in Mauritius, we all know too well how incredibly tiresome it is to get stuck in that legendary traffic of ours!

Got to say, as soon as I set foot in the shop, I had to take time to soak it all in! Although there was a range of different creations, from necklaces to bracelets, to earrings and accessories such as bags and hats…it all came together beautifully. Thanks to the intrinsic sun-kissed designs and bright tropical colors!
Back in the atelier, we had a sneak peek of the newly launched products By Agathe Besse, which are the divinely scented candles (now available in the shops!). Being a candle aficionado myself, my heart was in awe! Not only does the packaging celebrate the regions of our island, but their different scents are truly an ode to our memories as islanders! Poste Lafayette feels like this fresh ocean breeze and don’t get me started on Chamarel…it is like you’re having your own coffee or tea tasting at home!
