Have you heard? There is a new local eatery nestled in Blue Bay! The Spot Café Mauritius is the beach shack that we didn't know we needed!
Situated just a couple of minutes of walking distance from the public beach of Blue Bay, The Spot Café Mauritius is a new beach experience proposed by Chantauvent Guesthouse.
Snuggled within the luscious greenery from the statuesque tree rooted at the entrance of the beach shack, this restaurant and bar promises to lighten up your barefoot days in the south of the island!
As you step in The Spot Café Mauritius, you will be stunned by the simplicity yet colourful décor harbouring the beach life in Blue Bay.
My heart skipped a beat when my eyes laid on this charming wooden pirogue bar! For a moment I just envisioned myself holding a chilled cocktail and taking in the light ocean breeze, thanks to the outdoor setting! Till I heard those words: ‘Bonjour! Ki Maniere?’.
That was the waiter who welcomed us with a colossal smile! I guess my daydream cocktail face was quite obvious as he kept smiling, as sign of acknowledgement that, yeah…this was a damn beautiful bar! He then invited us to take a seat facing this bar! Well played, Jean. Well played!
What I loved about the décor was the open air seating. Each outdoor table had patio umbrellas and were beautifully sheltered with the surrounding trees. It was wonderful to actually feel that you were at the beach while eating in a beach restaurant! Toes wandering freely in the sand and the light rays of sunshine making it’s way through the leaves. Simple things, yet it adds up to the memorable experience.
I mean come on, have you seen this interior? Just give me my laptop already and this will become my new anchor for co-working and eventful gatherings!
We ordered ourselves a starter to accompany our drinks because, we wanted to make the most out of this foodie experience. Since we were going for seafood as our main course, we opted for the crispy chicken as ‘amuse bouche’.
We were pleasantly surprised by the presentation and the taste! So happy it drifted to our table in this cute handmade plant-based bowl! Since Chantauvent Guesthouse is fully committed in preserving the environment, they eliminated single-use plastic.
My delicious mojito for example, was savoured from a bagasse (sugarcane pulp) straw!
Our main course was a shared pizza (I usually don’t share my food but we were in for a dinner treat so it had to be done!)
We ordered ‘La Mahebourgeoise’ which was a divine array of seafood, mozzarella and mussels in a shellfish bisque sauce! OMG. This pizza, lived up to it’s name!
At first bite, I was overwhelmed with the seafood taste! Usually pizza are drowned in the paste…but not the pizzas at The Spot Café Mauritius!
Through the thin crust, I could disgustingly see and taste each ingredients, and due to the generous size of the seafood, it was a mouthful! As they mention on their menu ‘Pizza as it should’, well spot on (pun intended!)…it was delicious!
